Artist's Comments

Die stumpfe Klinge gut und recht
Ich blute stark und mir ist schlecht
Muss ich auch mit der Ohnmacht kämpfen
ich esse weiter unter Krämpfen

Ein Schrei wird zum Himmel fahren
Schneidet sich durch Engelsscharen
Vom Wolkendach fällt Federfleisch
auf meine Kindheit mit Gekreisch

Rammstein - Mein Teil

Model&Idea: My lovely girlfriend  :iconperfectstrangerasme:

This is my version of the shot: more macabre :D

Critiques

:iconpullingcandy:
I'm critiquing this on behalf of *CritiqueWeek, so here we go :)
First of all, the stark white background and pale, pale skin of your model are very striking. It is hard not to just stare at all of the points where there is blood, everything shows up as if you've spilled milk onto a black surface. Very hard to look away, it's almost beautiful, truly. The tattoo and the bones in her ribcage also stand out nicely, as if they've been slightly retouched by the burn tool to emphasize them, as well as her hair and lips.
The main points that I have seen while viewing this piece that seem a little off to me are the crop, and her eye...
The crop is proper but it seems that the angle is quite strange, perhaps if she were more centered it wouldn't lead me to distraction while looking at this - The negative space from elbow to waist and above that, from elbow to corner, is just so distracting. Unfortunately, with the model being posed as she is, I can't really say how one would recrop it, there really isn't any room to adjust, which is almost too bad, for a bit of centering would really help with the overall impact of this piece.
As for the eye, it looks manipulated, extremely. It's a cool idea, the blank, stitched stare off into nothingness, but in this case all this white space makes it stand out more then it should, and makes it look incredibly fake. The stitches are not laying as they would if her eye was sewn, either. If this was makeup, if you were to visit this piece, or like pieces, again, I would spend some time adjusting to how the skin moves and falls, the rise of the cheekbone, and where her eye opens and closes, because they look stiff unnatural as it is. As for her blanked out eye, again, it doesn't stop at the eyelid, it goes into the lashes and it's hard to discern whether it is real or a manipulation.
Those points aside, this is a stunning picture. Again, I must say, the white and red is very eye catching and gives me the chills, as anything that would so vividly show obvious gore of any kind.
Well done :D
